What You Need To Know About Your Healthy Blue Member ID Card

March 28, 2024

Keep an eye out in the mail for your Healthy Blue ID card

When you become a member of Healthy Blue, you’ll get a member ID card in the mail. It should take about two weeks from the time you join.

We may also send you a new ID card out when information on the card changes — like the codes your doctor and drug store need to check your eligibility or file your claim.

Always hold on to it! Keep it in a safe place where you can find it easily.

You will need to show both your Healthy Blue member ID card along with your Healthy Connections ID card when you see a doctor, go to the hospital or fill a prescription. That’s because Healthy Blue covers some services and Healthy Connections covers others. Your member ID card tells the provider who you are and that you have Healthy Blue coverage. Never let anyone else use your ID card.

If you have not gotten your Healthy Blue ID card, and it’s been more than two weeks since you enrolled, call Customer Service at 866-781-5094 (TTY 866-773-9634) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Here are some extra tips about your member ID card:

  • Your name and your member ID are only for you. Your primary care provider (PCP) name is also listed as vital information.
  • Anything with Rx in front of it has to do with pharmacy codes or information. For example, RXBIN is a code that tells a pharmacist where to send a claim.
  • On the back of the ID card, you will find a list of phone numbers for getting support. This includes Customer Service and our 24-Hour Nurse Line. Use these to get help when you need it. Or answer any questions you may have.
  • Remember: In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You don’t need an OK ahead of time. We will pay for these services. Ask the hospital to call your PCP right away.

Don’t worry: You don’t need to know what every number or letter means on your ID card. Most of these are codes for the doctor or pharmacist. They’ll know how to use them.

Still not sure how to read your ID card? Call Customer Service at 866-781-5094 (TTY 866-773-9634) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
